Covid Policy

Troop Covid Guidelines (Updated 09/19/2023)

Note: Some of our members have medical needs and/or vulnerable household members, and we would like to make meetings accessible to every member in the troop. Thank you for understanding. ❤️

🐞 As a troop, we require masking for any regular indoor meeting. Masks should fit well (not fall down) and not be made of fabric. Surgical masks will be available for participants that forget theirs.

🐞 UPDATED for 2023-2024 year: masks are not required for field trips. Mask wearing is welcome, but we will not be requiring or providing masks for field trips unless there are special circumstances. (Requirements of the venue, for example.)

🐞 We will rely on ventilation and reasonable distancing outdoors for most or all outdoor activities. Of course any member may wear a mask at any time if that makes them comfortable!

🐞 GSSJC no longer has any official Covid policy in place. As a troop, we do have tighter policies to keep the troop accessible to those with medical needs. If you or a household member have tested positive for Covid on a rapid antigen test (Flowflex, BinaxNow, etc.), please follow CDC guidelines for quarantine days but don’t come to meetings until you have either:

  • tested negative *after* day 10

or

  • have two negative tests 48 hours apart before day 10

In general, our troop members do not attend meetings when households are symptomatic for any illness, and many people choose to wear a mask the week they return as an added precaution.

🐞 Based on CDC recommendation: do not attend any activities if you are considered having had a *direct* Covid exposure within 5 days. If asymptomatic with a negative Covid test after a known direct exposure, please wear a mask even at outdoor meetings for days 6-10. Ideally, this will prevent transmission during the highest point of “contagiousness”.

The CDC outlines what is considered a direct exposure here:
https://www.cdc.gov/…/your…/quarantine-isolation.html

🏕️ We will be requiring pre-testing of campers (including tagalongs 2 yrs+) for all overnight activities at this time. If a rapid antigen test will be a financial burden for you, please message Stephanie Browning. (I donate tests from my own resources, not out of troop funds, for now.)

We cannot promise no transmission and all activities are at your own risk. We do hope that by being community minded and a sibling to every Girl Scout that we will keep transmission rates down as much as possible while having a wonderful year.
